Politics

Chairman of the Municipal Executive Committee (kommunstyrelsen) is Nils Persson, from the Swedish Social Democratic Party. Opposition leader is Ulla Olsson, from the Moderate Party. As in most of Dalarna, the Social Democrats hold a strong position. As a result of the Swedish municipal elections, 2006 the Social Democrats currently hold 28 of 61 mandates, a decrease of three mandates which lost them the absolute majority, though they remain the largest party in Borlänge. The Moderate Party, the second largest party, holds 11 mandates.
